West Plains, MO. – A local business that has stood in West Plains for over a century has closed its doors for the last time.
On June 29th, Aid Downtown Antiques officially ended their run of 139 years. Owner Toney Aid had stated that he has retired from the business now after initially announcing the closure back in March.
This past weekend, a small celebration was held for Toney and his wife Kathleen, where notable figures of the West Plains area and others attended and recounted stories of the long-time business with the owners present.
While the concept of a long-time business ending may be a bitter concept, many people close to the store have expressed their affection and gratitude, while also congratulating Toney Aid on his retirement, making the overall emotion on the closure feel more bittersweet instead.
