Alley Spring to Hold Demonstrations on Blacksmithing, Leatherworking and More

Van Buren, MO. – Those interested in the old-time, hands-on crafts of yesterday may find something exciting being planned to take place at Alley Spring, Missouri over the next few weeks.

This information comes from Ozark National Scenic Riverways, who say that they’ll be holding public, free-to-attend demonstrations that include blacksmithing, leatherworking, soap making, and more.

These demonstrations will be staggered out through this month, with each being on a Saturday. They start this Saturday on the 5th, continue on the 12th, and return on the 19th. The subjects will change depending on the Saturday you attend.

October 5: Blacksmithing and leatherworking

October 12: Lye soap making and broom making

October 19: Blacksmithing and leatherworking

Alley Spring can be found five miles west of Eminence, Missouri on State Route 106. For more information, go online to nps.gov/ozar.
