Thayer, MO. – An Alton man was injured in a two vehicle crash with an semi-truck near Thayer on Tuesday Morning. According to the Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred on Highway 19, four miles north of Thayer at 8:25 a.m.
A southbound 2011 Freightliner driven by Hannah Spears, 38 of Alton, was making a left turn when a 2000 Ford F150 driven by James Owen, 64 of Alton, decided to attempt to pass the semi, crashing into it instead. The Freightliner received minor damage and Spears, who had not been wearing a seat belt, had minor injuries. The Ford was totaled and Owen suffered moderate injuries. He was transported by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment. It is unknown if Owen had been using a seat belt or had insurance on the vehicle.
