West Plains, MO. – For 68 years, Fire Departments across the nation have taken part in a charity event that supports the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a group that provides funds for and supports research on the disease of the same name.
The event is called “Fill the Boot”, and local Firefighters in the West Plains area have managed to raise $5,800 by standing along corners and accepting donations.
As with many years before it, both our urban and rural fire departments have taken part, including the West Plains Fire Department, Howell County Rural Fire District #1, Pomona Fire Protection District 2, Pumpkin Center Volunteer Fire Dept. Pottersville Fire Department and Lanton Volunteer Fire Department.
If you still wish to donate and missed your chance or weren’t aware, donations are still being accepted at Fire Station 1 at 1901 Kissinger St. in West Plains. For more information on this event, contact (417) 256-2424.
