Arrest Made in Midway Area Thefts

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 42-year-old Jamie Lee McCool in connection with a stolen ATV in the Midway area.  On February 28, 2025, a resident of the Midway area reported someone entered his metal barn and stole his four-wheeler.  

     On March 1, 20-25, in the early morning hours, deputies with the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office spotted an ATV on Hwy 126 North around the Baxter County Regional Airport traveling north.  The deputies lost contact with the ATV.  A couple hours later, Jamie McCool was arrested on an outstanding Misdemeanor Bench Warrant while walking in Midway.

     On March 3, 2025, the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to an abandoned ATV and trailer on the Baxter Lab property located in Midway.  The ATV was identified as the one stolen on February 28th.  Attached to the ATV  was a wagon filled with tools, saws, saws, wood working machines, and other specialized tools.   The value of these items was reported at $4,000.00.  The suspect attached a new winch to the ATV which has not been identified as stolen.

     During the investigation, it was learned that Tucker Timber and Lumber was broken into, and almost all items in the trailer attached to the ATV were identified as stolen from the business.

     As a result of the investigation, Jamie McCool was charged with:

Theft by Receiving (2 counts) – Felonies
Habitual Offender – Penalty Enhancement

     McCool has prior felony convictions from the State of California.  He is currently being held in the Detention Center in lieu of $30,000 bond.  McCool is scheduled to appear before the Circuit Court to answer today, March 10th.  He currently shows to be homeless.
