This year has been a busy year for the Highway Patrol, with Troop G in our area experiencing a higher number of fatalities, crashes, and intoxicated drivers.
While an official count of the overall arrests, fatalities, accidents, and otherwise has yet to be released, some statistics can be gleaned from online reports.
Nine arrests occurred stretching over the period of the Memorial Day Weekend, May 26th through the end of the 29th. Of these arrests, eight of nine involved intoxication of some kind.
Charged individuals include Dalton Moore, 19 of Hartville, Jennie Nutty, 48 of Amery, WI., Hope Turner, 31 of Bunker, Quinsey Doolittle, 18 of West Plains, Tanner Murphy, 24 of Park Hills, Nicole Fields, 33 of Tecumseh, Emily Morris, 36 of Myrtle, Robert Upton, 36 of Daytona Beach, FL., and Joseph Wright, who was arrested for Failure to Appear in Taney and Wright Counties, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
On May 28th, Troop G experienced its 12th fatality of 2023, showing a 33% increase over last year’s count of 9 around this time.
