Mountain Home, AR. – A legislative package was presented to Arkansas State University- Mountain Home by U.S. Senator John Boozman to help fund an enhanced health education through a $6 million appropriation. The appropriation was signed into law on March 23, 2024.
The Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations bill is meant to provide funding to help support the expansion of the ASUMH healthcare education facility and to enhance the technology to develop the medical workforce. It will help fund the growth of all the medical programs including the Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Assistant – Certified, Paramedic Technology, Practical Nursing, Pre-Nursing, Professional Medical Coding, Registered Nursing, Health Professions, and Health Sciences.
Right now their health sciences building, Gotaas Hall, houses simulation laboratories with life-like medical manikins, ambulance simulators, and classrooms that mimic hospital rooms. With the appropriation bill, ASUMH plans to enhance all of the current facilities to provide better opportunities to their students.
