At Least Three People Reported Dead in Arkansas Due to Weekend Storms

Arkansas – At least three people have been reported as fatalities as a result of the storms that took place over this Memorial Day weekend.

The storms that swept through Arkansas happened on the morning of Sunday, May 26th, and served as a precursor to the storms that later carved a path through Missouri later that day.

Both the Baxter and Marion County Sheriff’s Offices have made announcements on decedents.

In Baxter County, the damage appears to have been heavily concentrated around Briarcliff, Salesville, and Hand Cove areas. Reported deceased was Patricia Sontag, 73, who was found 300 yards north of the location of her destroyed mobile home. In addition, seventeen people were also reported injured, with some including children.

In Marion County, it was stated that at least two storm-related fatalities occurred. The identities of the victims are being withheld while all next-of-kin have been informed.
