Ava Man Arrested After Domestic Assault Call

Ava, MO. – A man from Ava has been arrested after Douglas County Deputies responded to a call of Domestic Assault on May 9th.

In response to the call were Douglas County Corporal Nelson, and Deputies Shawn Wilson and Aaron Box. On arrival at the residence, law enforcement made contact with Steven Adams, 37.

Adams had initially moved to approach law enforcement, but turned around to walk behind a section of overgrown vegetation. Adams was detained during investigation and a revolver was found in the bush he had walked behind.

Adams is a previously convicted felon, and when taken into custody was found to have a BAC of .121. Adams was given additional charges which include Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon While Intoxicated With a Loaded Weapon.

Adams is being held on a $5000 bond in the Douglas County Jail.

He has also been issued extra stipulations for release, including: CPS supervision with no alcohol consumption and testing for presence of alcohol twice weekly, no contact with victim, not to be on property of victim, no firearms or ammunition, house arrest unless verified employment. Otherwise, may only travel to and from court, attorney’s office, doctor’s appointment and testing. 7pm to 7 am curfew.
