Denlow, MO. – One 30-year-old driver from Ava was fatally injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred yesterday evening on Highway 76 in Douglas County.
Corporal D.J. Johnson of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop G was the investigator of this crash. A Honda Civic was found totaled one mile West of Denlow with the driver having been ejected from the vehicle.
The driver was Nathan Schmude, 30 of Ava. He was travelling Eastbound when, at 7:05pm, he lost control when cresting a hill. He then travelled off the left side of the roadway and overturned multiple times. The driver did not appear to be using his safety device at the time of the crash.
Schmude was pronounced deceased at 8:40pm by Douglas County Coroner Rick Miller. Assistance in this event is credited to Corporal N.J. Britt of the Highway Patrol, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and Douglas County First Responders.
