Ava, MO. – A man from Ava has been seriously injured after being involved in a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday.
This November 8th crash occurred on Highway 76, roughly 12 miles east of Ava, MO. According to the report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Brittany Escobedo, 34 of Mansfield, turned into the path of a Toyota T100 truck. The two vehicles collided, and the force of the collision caused the T100 to travel off the roadway and overturn.
The driver of the T100 was the only person injured. He was identified as Jeffrey Barry, 39 of Ava, whose injuries were categorized as serious.
Air ambulance conveyance was used to transport the man to Cox South in Springfield for medical treatment.
Escobedo was found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash and is facing charges including Driving While Intoxicated Resulting in Serious Physical Injury, three counts of 2nd Degree Assault, two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Careless and Imprudent Driving Involving a Crash.
The charges of endangering the welfare of a child are due to two juveniles being in the victim’s vehicle at the time of the collision. The injuries suffered by Barry were reported to have paralyzed him from the chest down, according to the probable cause affidavit on the case.
Scene Crash Investigation confirmed Escobedo struck the side of the T100 while pulling into the intersection.
The investigating Highway Patrolman on this incident was Trooper C.A. Edens of Troop G.
