Ava Resident Arrested On Domestic Assault Charges

Ava, MO. – An Ava man is facing Felony Charges of Domestic Assault after an April incident, according to a recent announcement from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.

This event occurred on April 13th, 2023, and started with Deputy Joe Dering travelling to the Goodhope area based on a report of a domestic assault. When the Deputy arrived, he found that the suspect, James Shea, 42 of Ava, had fled the scene.

Shea was found on April 19th at the same residence after information was received about his return. Shea was taken in without further notable incident, and is being held in the Douglas County Jail on a $2500 bond. He is facing two Felony counts of 2nd Degree Domestic Assault and an additional no bond charge for Parole Violation as of April 20th.
