On November 4, 2026, Megan Engelking, age 31, of Ava, was arrested on a no-bond warrant for failure to appear on a Possession of a controlled substance case. Engelking had been hiding from law enforcement at a residence in the Vera Cruz area.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by Operation Relentless, had been attempting to apprehend Engelking for several weeks; however, she continued to hide from law enforcement. The homeowner in Vera Cruz was contacted by Engelking’s probation officer and advised of the warrant. The homeowner continued to hide and provide the necessities to survive to Engelking and failed to contact the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to advise of Engelking’s location so she could be taken into custody. The arrest operation was supervised by Sgt. Aaron Box and Deputy Sam Evans.
At the time of arrest, Engelking attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended quickly by Deputy Jonathan Harley. An additional no-bond warrant was issued for Engelking for resisting or interfering with a felony arrest.
Sheriff Degase would like to thank Operation Relentless Pursuit for their assistance on the arrest and would like to remind those who assist fugitives that they, too, will face criminal charges.
