Scammers are continuing to be active in Baxter County. Additional reports were received of scammers making calls and pretending to be law enforcement officers with the Sheriff’s Office and demanding money be paid to prevent arrest. Most recently, they have been impersonating Lt. Brian Davis.
Also, email scammers are targeting local residents claiming they have remotely installed malware on people’s computers and demanding payment to keep from destroying files and etc.
The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office reminds you to remain vigilant and do not provide or verify any personal information whatsoever to these scammers, and do not transfer any funds or agree to any kind of financial transactions. Don’t become a victim.
