Baxter County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Death of Jail Inmate

Mountain Home, AR. – The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office is currently undergoing an investigation into the death of an inmate who recently passed away in the ER of Baxter Health.

This began on January 6th, when jailers in the Baxter County Jail noticed that an inmate, identified as Larry Charles Babin Jr., a 51-year-old from Cotter, AR., hadn’t moved for a large period of time. The inmate was checked and found to be alive, but unable to respond to any external stimuli. An ambulance was called, and Babin was taken to the Baxter Health ER, where he later passed away.

The Arkansas State Police have been called in to begin an investigation, per regulation. The body of this inmate has been transported to the Arkansas State Medical Examiners Office in Little Rock for an autopsy.
