Mountain Home, AR. – The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office will be holding a qualification shoot for retired officers on April 21st.
U.S. federal law, under the Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act, requires a retired or qualified officer to possess a photographic identification issued by his or her agency, and an annual firearms qualification certification in order to carry a firearm in all U.S. jurisdictions.
The cost for this qualification shoot will be $10, which is payable in advance to the Sheriff’s Office. The time and location of this test will be at 8:30am at the firing range on County Road 782, just off of State Highway 201 North.
Those who attend and pass will be issued an official card attesting to their completion. Retired officers will not be issued a qualification card from the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards, as the Sheriff’s Office does not participate in that process.
