Mountain Home, AR. – Another telephone scam is making its rounds among the people of Baxter County, according to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office.
Substantial monetary loss has already been reported, which has led to this press release. The scam involves someone claiming to be a “bank officer” associated with a local bank, who then convinced someone to withdraw several thousand dollars, and then redeposit it within Crypto ATM’s in the Mountain Home area.

These Crypto ATM’s are devices wherein one can buy and sell cryptocurrency in exchange for cash or funds from a debit card. The scammers are reported to often attempt intimidation tactics for compliance from their target. Funds lost in these scams are typically not retrievable.
