Birch Tree, MO. – The second of two men who were being tried in court for the murder of a 77-year-old Birch Tree woman in 2020, has plead guilty and has been sentenced.
Joseph Proffer, 26 of Birch Tree, plead guilty in court on Monday to a charge of 2nd Degree Murder in the death of Barbara Lynn. The judge in this case then sentenced Proffer to 25 years in prison.
This news comes not long after the sentencing of Proffer’s associate, Stanley Kenaga Jr., who received a life sentence on Friday, August 25th.
Both Proffer and Kenaga were accused of breaking into the home of the victim with the purpose of theft on April 2nd, 2020. When confronted by the homeowner, the two men murdered the victim and set the home on fire.
