Black Rock man dies from motorcycle crash near Myrtle

West Plains, MO. – A man from Black Rock, Arkansas was fatally injured in a crash Saturday afternoon near Myrtle in eastern Oregon County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred three miles east of Myrtle on Highway 142 at 2:06 p.m.

An eastbound Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Gary Johann, age 56, traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned, ejecting Johann. The driver was taken by air ambulance to Memphis Regional Hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Johann had not been wearing a helmet and the motorcycle was totaled in the crash.

This is the 29th fatal crash reported by MSHP Troop G in 2023, compared to 27 at the same time last year.
