UPDATE: Body Found in Sharp County, AR., Police Investigating

UPDATE 2:56 P.M. -The Cherokee Village Police Department has released a statement on the body recovered Tuesday:

“The body of a 35-year-old man was found in Lake Cherokee in Cherokee Village around noon Tuesday, May 16th. Derek Hughes had been reported as missing late Saturday night on May 13th where witnesses stated he had left the Copper Feather Bar & Grille intoxicated. It was unclear if Hughes had left on foot or in a vehicle. Hughes phone had been pinged but the last location noted was the Copper Feather the night he was reported missing. Cherokee Village Police Department is still conducting interviews at this time as witnesses come forward to determine more details. Assisting agencies are the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office and Sharp County Coroner’s Office. The body is being sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy.”

Cherokee Village, AR. – The body of an individual has been found in Lake Cherokee, according to the Cherokee Village Police Department, and investigations are underway.

The body was found at 10am on Tuesday, and the local PD have already sent the body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock for an autopsy.

As far as information has been released, the body has not been identified, and little else is known.
