UPDATE: West Plains Police Department Press Release Regarding 10Box Suspicious Package

Update: 8-26-2022 5:50 p.m. The West Plains Police Depart has issued a press release addressing the suspicious package earlier today, stating that no explosives were found and the box was dealt with. Exact wording can be read below:

“Around 9:00 am on Friday August 26th, 2022, officers of the West Plains Police Department responded to a
Suspicious Circumstances call at 705 Kentucky Avenue also known as 10 Box. After the officers arrived, they
located a package next to the building and due to the circumstances and camera video of the event,
evacuated the building and contacted a specialist squad to deal with the package. The package was later
detonated by the specialist squad, but no explosives were found.

The store has been reopened along with the roadways. The investigation is still on going.

We would like to thank the West Plains Fire Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and South Howell

West Plains, MO. Aug 26, 2022 9:44 a.m. – Ozark Radio News received unconfirmed reports of a potential bomb threat at 10Box Cost-Plus located at 705 Kentucky Avenue in West Plains.

West Plains Police have confirmed that the grocery store has been evacuated due to a suspicious package being present near the building. The store will be closed for a few hours until the situation is resolved.

10:30 a.m. – A suspicious package was found on the front side of the building shortly after 9 a.m. Currently, W.P.P.D., Missouri State Highway Patrol, and emergency crews have responded to the store.

Law enforcement is asking citizens to avoid Kentucky Avenue between Broadway and 5th street until the scene has been cleared.
