Caulfield, MO. – The Ozark County Sheriff’s Office announced at 12:50 p.m. that Highway V, three miles west of Caulfield, is currently closed due to a fatal vehicle accident.
Law enforcement is advising seeking alternative routes and exercising caution while driving in the area.
Unconfirmed reports state the crash occurred roughly two miles south of the US 160 intersection near County Road 565 and that there was a vehicle on fire.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol released more information about the crash shortly after 2 p.m.: At 1200 hours today, Troop G was notified of a tragic incident on Highway V, 5 miles west of Caulfield, Missouri, in Ozark County. Emergency personnel on the scene have confirmed that the incident is a single-vehicle, single-occupant fatality crash. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the crash occurred as the vehicle was traveling northbound and failed to negotiate a curve. This led to the vehicle traveling off the roadway and ultimately overturning. The subject was identified as 39-year-old Richard Clewett of Caulfield
