A man is facing felony charges after deputies say he threatened two people and was later found with more than 60 grams of methamphetamine. According to a probable cause statement filed by the Howell County Sheriff’s Office, Corporal Brandon Barnes responded to a residence on June 26 after reports that Eric J. Hogard, address listed as Kansas City, had threatened to kill two victims and was throwing rocks at them and their vehicle. “Hogard made threats to kill both of them and began throwing rocks at them,” the statement reads.
Deputies say Hogard refused to let the victims into their residence and claimed their belongings were now his. After he was taken into custody, a search of the home reportedly uncovered multiple pieces of contraband, including approximately 60.7 grams of methamphetamine separated into six bags, a scale, and glass smoking devices. “Approximately 60.7 grams of methamphetamine was recovered… separated into 6 different bags,” the report states.
Prosecutors have charged Hogard with possession of a controlled substance and burglary in the second degree. Deputies noted Hogard was aggressive toward the victims and attempted to strike them with thrown objects.
