Cabool Man Arrested on Child Endangerment & Abuse Charges

Cabool, MO. – A man from Cabool is facing three felony charges following his arrest, due to an abusive or dangerous home environment.

This case began with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department receiving information about a possible child abuse case. Deputy Sam Evans was assigned to the case and made contact with a Children’s Division Investigator. During the investigation it was discovered there was reasonable grounds for removal of the victim child within the home to be removed, due to a past history of sexual abuse from another individual in the home and the method of punishment used by the father, Joshua Deatherage.

The victim in this case is reported to have had a past of sexual abuse by another individual in the household, with Deatherage not following through with preventative measures on further abuse, as well as his use of pex pipe to strike his children as a form of punishment.

Deatherage is being charged with 1st Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child – No Sexual Contact, and two counts of 2nd Degree Domestic Assault. He is being held on a $2,500 bond.
