Caulfield, MO – A tragic one-vehicle crash occurred yesterday near Caulfield, resulting in the death of an elderly passenger despite life-saving efforts.
The accident took place on US Highway 160, approximately seven miles west of Caulfield, at 4:32 p.m. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the driver, 68-year-old Joan Hagerdorn from St. Louis, crossed the centerline, veering off the left side of the road before striking an embankment.
The Ford F150 involved in the crash was totaled. An 80-year-old male passenger, James Hagerdorn, also of St. Louis, sustained serious injuries and was transported by air ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at 8:19 p.m.
Joan Hagerdorn suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for further treatment.
The investigating officer on the scene was Trooper K.L. Hogan of Troop G.
