Sharp County, Arkansas – A Cave City woman is recovering from injuries received during an attempted murder-suicide by her estranged husband on Sunday.
On August 20, 2023, law enforcement was alerted to a shooting on Blackstone Street in Cave City. After arriving and speaking with a female victim who had been shot, additional shots were heard from inside the residence.
Inside the residence, officers found Joseph Panariello on the ground in a bedroom with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The female victim who had been shot twice was the estranged wife of Panariello. She told officers that she and her husband were married but separated. Officers had previous history with the residence due to reports of domestic violence.
The man was taken to a local hospital and was pronounced deceased. The woman was airlifted to a local hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
Law enforcement involved in this case included the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office and the Cave City Police.
