Marshfield, MO. – The second teen in a pair that were involved in the deadly stabbing of a Marshfield man back in June of this year has had charges formally filed against them.
The date of this incident was June 28th, with the victim being 52-year-old Shawn Ellingburg, a Marshfield resident. According to the probable cause statement on the case, Ellingburg found himself in an altercation while checking on an elderly, immobile neighbor. The altercation escalated as he was stabbed to death by a pair of teens, who then fled, leaving the man on the driveway.
The first of these teens who had been charged was Thomas Keith Smith Jr., a 16-year-old male who was charged with Felony 2nd Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action.
The second of these teens being charged is Allissa Staples, a 15-year-old female, who is also facing a 2nd Degree Murder charge. The pair are alleged to have been in a relationship.
Both teens appear to have separate attorneys and likely will not be tried together.
