West Plains, MO. – A series of child abuse incidents over the course of at least 5 years has led to the arrest of two individuals in the West Plains Area.
Cody and Emily Toten, both of West Plains, are facing felony charges related to child abuse, with Cody looking at three times as many as Emily.
This is due to a string of child abuse situations that started as far back as 2019, according to one of the probable cause affidavits. Between the affidavits of both individuals, the story appears to be that these multiple instances of abuse were enacted by Cody Toten, where a pair of juvenile victims were left bleeding after being struck, whether by hand or by object, and Emily Toten would retract court orders, allowing Cody to re-enter their lives.
Both Cody and Emily Toten were arrested on October 11th. Cody has a bond set at $50,000, while Emily’s bond was set at $10,000.
