City Council to hear Bill banning street parking near West Plains High School

West Plains, MO. – On Monday night, the West Plains City Council will hear the first read of a bill to ban parking on the streets near the West Plains High School.

The bill is Bill No. 4749 and would specifically prohibit the parking of motor vehicles on Howell Avenue from Olden Street south to Bratton Avenue, East Olden Street 325 feet west of Howell Avenue, 3rd Street 325 feet west of Howell Avenue, and East Olden Street from Howell Avenue to Davidson Street.

This bill was introduced following the construction of a new school parking lot across from the Jimmie Carroll Sports Complex on the north-western corner of the Howell Avenue and Olden Street intersection. 

Violators of this new ordinance would be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, be fined according to municipal court guidelines. 

The West Plains City Council will meet during its regular session at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2023, in the West Plains City Hall Council Chambers at 1910 Holiday Lane.
