The City of West Plains Street Department is warning citizens to be aware of the extremely slick and hazardous conditions this weekend while it continues to apply salt mix to city streets.
Crews have been working since Thursday on the roadways, with the combination of cold weather and ice making driving conditions dangerous in many parts of the city. Salt is being applied to hills, intersections, and other areas to help with traction, but the streets cannot be plowed until temperatures warm up.

The City is urging further caution later this weekend, with heavy snowfall expected on Sunday and into Monday. Crews are encouraging motorists to stay home and off the streets when possible.
