Community rallies around Connor Lair following cancer diagnosis, multiple benefits planned

Zizzer Alumni and Missouri State football running back Connor Lair has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Lair, age 19, was diagnosed with this form of cancer on September 8, 2023, prior to the Missouri State Bears game against UT Martin.

Multiple people and organizations in the West Plains community are pulling together in an attempt to help Lair and his family during this challenging time.

A T-Shirt campaign for Lair was started to help with costs with a goal of $500. As of Thursday morning, the campaign has raised over $4,400. You can learn more about the T-Shirt campaign at inktothepeople.com/connors-cure

The West Plains School District announced on Wednesday that all gate proceeds from the Zizzer Homecoming game on Friday, September 15th will be donated to Lair’s family to help cover expenses. Ice Queens – Tropical Sno will also be donating 100% of sales to Lair’s family during the game.

On Monday, September 21st, Ozarks Cafe in West Plains will be donating proceeds from that day and will have a donation jar set up at the counter.
