COVID-19 public health reminders

As more localities and businesses require face coverings and masks, public health experts with the One for All Missouri campaign would like to share the following guidelines and suggestions for using face coverings to stop the spread of COVID-19.

  • Wear a face covering if you are indoors in a public space or building, or near people you do not live with.
  • Masks are especially important in situations where staying more than six feet away from others is a challenge.
  • Bring a clean face mask with you whenever you leave your home.
  • Wearing a face mask in public offers protection to the people around you, especially those who are at a higher risk of getting sick.
  • You may be carrying COVID-19 without realizing it. Wearing a face mask significantly reduces the risk that you will spread the virus unknowingly.
  • COVID-19 spreads through droplets when we talk, sneeze, or cough.
  • Face coverings should fully cover your nose and mouth to stop droplets from reaching the people around you.
  • Cloth face coverings and masks are safe for most people but should not be worn by people with breathing problems, children under two years old, and anyone who cannot remove their own mask.
  • Children over age two can and should wear face coverings over their nose and mouth to stop the spread.
  • We encourage parents to have honest conversations with their children about why wearing a mask is important, even if it is sometimes uncomfortable.
  • Letting children choose a mask that reflects their personal style can help them commit to wearing it.
  • Practicing wearing masks correctly now can help ease the transition to wearing masks at school.
