We’re almost back into February, which means coyote mating season. With a strong coyote population in the Ozarks, it’s important to consider once again how this time of year will change the animals behavior.
The Missouri Department of Conservation suggests that during this time of year to monitor your small animals, including cats, small dogs, rabbits, and otherwise, as Coyote become more aggressive during this season. In addition to being more aggressive during this season, Coyote will likely stray from their normal territory and into others.
It is advised that during this time and the pup rearing season, through April and May, that you ensure your property has no food sources readily avaialble, you keep a good watch on your smaller animals, and keep trash containers secure.
The season typically will last from February and into early March.
