Press Release from the Ozark Spring, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution
WEST PLAINS, MISSOURI: Colonel Crockett Oaks, III, United States Army, Retired and Missouri State University, West Plains, Associate Vice Chancellor for Business and Support Services is scheduled to present a program on the history of the Lincoln School, the efforts that have been made in preserving the historical landmark, and the exciting future plans for the school at the Ozark Spring, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (Ozark Spring, NSDAR) February 3, 2024 meeting.
The historical Lincoln School served African American Children in the West Plains community grades one through eight, and dates back to the 1920’s to 1954, with older documents that further suggest the segregation era school was in operation in the 1900’s prior to the origination of the building.
According to Oaks,” Lincoln School’s rich history is an interesting one that will surely hold an audience’s attention. Now that restoration of the historic Lincoln School is complete, we look forward to providing the community with top notch programming, which will be some of the information discussed during the program.”
The Ozark Spring, NSDAR meeting opens at 1:00 p.m. with general meeting protocol followed by Oak’s program at the American Legion Hall, 1401 Bill Virdon Blvd., West Plains, Missouri. These educational programs are Free and Open to the Public. The February 2024 meeting Hostesses are Ms. Lois Frazier and Ms. Jessica Joice-Frazier.
