Deadly Three-Vehicle Accident North of Cabool

Cabool, MO. – A three-vehicle accident yesterday that closed traffic on US 63 north of Cabool claimed the life of one of those involved.

The investigator of this deadly crash was Trooper J.L. Sentman of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop G.

According to the accident report, James Russo, a 51-year-old St. Louis resident, travelled across the center of the roadway in his Ford F150 and struck a Volkswagon Atlas; he then continued and struck a Kenworth semi and was ejected. The semi travelled off the roadway and overturned, resting on its top. The collision happened at 4:50pm.

Russo was not wearing a safety device, and lost his life in the accident. The driver and a passenger of the Volkswagon sustained minor injuries, as did the driver of the semi and a 12-year-old juvenile passenger of the semi.

This is the 35th traffic fatality for Troop G of the Highway Patrol this year, as opposed to 28 this time last year.

In assistance on this call were Corporal T.L. Brown, Trooper N.B. Poynter, Crash Team Corporal Waters, Cabool and Houston Fire Departments, and the Texas County Sheriff’s Department.
