West Plains, MO. – An event will be held in West Plains soon where people who suffer from dementia or know a loved one who does can do to learn more about the condition and what they’ll need to know or do to ease the burden.
This will happen on September 16th from 10am to 1pm at the South Campus of the First Baptist Church, 202 Walnut Street in West Plains. Speakers in attendance will include elder law attorneys, representatives from the Alzheimers Association, Doctors, and support services specialists such as hospice.
Jill Pietroburgo and Hannon Ford, both organizers of the event, stepped into the studio to talk to us about it. Jill stated that a big reason for putting on this event was watching her mother go through dementia, and not knowing where to go or what to do when it came to responding to this change.
Hannon on the other hand stated his experience in dealing with dementia is mostly on the professional end, who is a part of Ford Estate Planning and Elder Law. He talked about how an event like this is helpful to many within the public, and even how he has started to see the potential of dealing with this condition with his family sometime in the future.
Food will also be available from vendors including coffee, barbeque, ice cream, kettle corn, and more. Booth space is still available to groups who wish to participate in offering help and resources to those seeking it. Call Jill at 417-272-4263 for more information.
