WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) students and area residents alike can learn more about digital photography in Introduction to Digital Photography (ART 210) this spring.
The course will be available as a three-credit-hour option for students enrolled at MSU-WP during the 2023 spring semester and as a non-credit continuing education/personal enrichment class for area residents through MSU-WP’s workforce development office.
Through the course, students will develop an understanding of the principles, methods, techniques and vocabulary of the most widely used digital imaging processes, university officials said. The course will emphasize visual problem solving, they added.
The class will meet from 3 to 4:20 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday throughout the 16-week semester. It will be taught by photographer and long-time educator Robert Kitt of Mtn. View.
Kitt received his undergraduate degree in communications from Webster University in St. Louis in 1992 and his master’s degree in photography from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro in 2000. He also holds a master’s in fine arts (MFA) degree in studio art from Lindenwood University in St. Charles.
He has more than 20 years of teaching experience, most of it in photography, at various colleges and universities in Missouri.
Although no textbook will be required for the class, Kitt recommends that students provide their own DSLR cameras.
MSU-WP students who take the course will be charged the university’s regular per credit hour fees. They can enroll in the class during 2023 spring semester early registration period Oct. 31 through Nov. 11 or during the regular registration period beginning Nov. 12.
Area residents who take the course as a non-credit option through workforce development will be charged $335 for the class. For enrollment information, contact Workforce Development Director Sheila Barton at SheilaFBarton@MissouriState.edu or call 417-255-7784.
