If you follow our Featured Pet of the Day posts, you may already recognize the stars of this story—two beautiful dogs who recently got their happy ending.
Meet Copper and Precious, a bonded pair who had been searching for a forever home where they could stay side by side. These two had been inseparable since they were puppies.
Precious, a 6-year-old German Shepherd/Husky mix, is full of sass and sweetness. She’s the kind of dog who’ll talk back with a playful bark and melt with joy when someone scratches behind her ears.
Copper, her fluffy best friend, is also 6 years old but has the spirit and bounce of a puppy. He loves belly rubs, sunbathing, and, charmingly, prefers to lie down while eating.
They recently lost the only family they had ever known—and the idea of separating them was heartbreaking. Bonded pairs often get overlooked because adopters may only be looking for one dog, but these two needed each other. They deserved a fresh start, together.
And thanks to an amazing outpouring of support from the community, that’s exactly what they got.
Willow Springs Animal Control recently shared the joyful update that, because of all the shares and love shown online, Copper and Precious found their new forever home together, all the way in Kansas City! Someone saw their story, fell in love, and knew they couldn’t let them be separated.
The new family even sent an update to Animal Control: Copper and Precious have already been to the groomer, enjoyed a pup cup treat, and took a long, sunny nap in their new yard afterward. They’re safe. They’re happy. And they’re still together.

So, thank you to everyone who shared their story. It might seem like a small act, but for Copper and Precious, it changed everything. Sometimes the simplest gestures—like clicking “share”—can help rescue animals find the love they deserve.
This is what community looks like. And it’s beautiful.
