Missouri – When snow blankets the Ozarks, it doesn’t just bring icy roads and school closures—it brings a winter wonderland of fun! This week’s snowfall may have had some people bundled up indoors with hot cocoa, but for many in the community, it was the perfect excuse to head outside and make the most of the frosty weather.

From giant snowmen to epic sled races, the community didn’t hold back in turning their backyards and parks into winter playgrounds. Ozarks News asked residents to send in photos of their best snow day moments, and the results were nothing short of magical!

Snowmen, Sledding, and Snowball Battles—Oh My!

A West Plains family tried and failed to build the biggest snowman, complete with a scarf and building. They didn’t make it very far because their three dogs knocked it down before the head could even get on the top of the snowman.

The Hayes Family had a creative idea of the best way to go sledding. In a comment, she said, “We love to fit as many kids as possible in an old truck bed liner and pull them around the hayfields with the side by side. Snowdays really are the best days!

We had a community three-year-old toddler trying to mow the grass with his toy lawn mower. Members showed pictures of their dogs playing in the snow for the first time.

The Bradley family shared a video of their grandkids building their first-ever snowman. Many fun things can come from the snow. Creative sledding ideas, snowmen, snowball fights, and snow ice cream.

Creative Snow Day Fun

Not all snow day fun involved freezing fingers. You can make art in the snow. lay down on your back and feel the cold and fun as you create your snow angels, leaving your angelic print in the snow.

Others turned their snow day into a culinary adventure. Families can make snow ice cream, enjoying the small joy of homemade ice cream from the sky. Others can make maple syrup snow candy, pouring warm syrup over fresh snow to make delicious frozen treats.

What’s Your Favorite Snow Day Activity?

From snow forts to ice skating on frozen ponds, there are endless ways to enjoy a snow day. Even those who prefer to stay warm indoors can still get in on the fun—baking cookies, watching movies, and enjoying a cozy day by the fire.
