Douglas County Arrest Leads to 1st Degree Drug Trafficking Charges

Ava, MO. – A late September arrest in the Ava area has led to a slew of criminal charges for one Douglas County resident.

According to the announcement from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, this case involved a narcotics search warrant that was served just North of Ava on the morning of Thursday, September 28th.

This warrant was the result of an arrest just days prior where what is described as a large quantity of Methamphetamine and Fentanyl was seized. In the residence, more illegal narcotics, meth, firearms, and illegally grown marijuana were found.

Daniel Byerly, 44 of Ava, was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold, and is facing charges of both 1st and 2nd Degree Drug Trafficking, Manufacturing a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Use of a Weapon While Possessing Meth, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His bond was set at $50,000.
