Vanzant, MO. – What started as a response to a call of a dangerous domestic situation led to an arrest with 18 felony charges in Douglas County this past Monday.
On July 6th, at around 2:37pm, three law enforcement officials from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrived at a residence in Vanzant to a call that Terry Hicks, born 1967 and a convicted felon, was threatening a victim with a hammer and a firearm, causing them to hide in a nearby field.
The victim alleged that Hicks had fired at them on multiple occasions, as well as thrown a fan at their head in separate instances.
On arrival, Hicks was found and taken into custody, and the victim was confirmed to be safe. Investigation of the residence led to the discovery of multiple firearms as well as suspected meth and drug paraphernalia. Hicks had admitted to being under the influence of drugs during the investigation.
Hicks now faces two felony charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon for shooting at the victim, six felony charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, six felony charges of Unlawful Use of a Weapon for Possessing a Weapon and a Controlled Substance, a felony charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance, a felony charge of 2nd Degree Kidnapping, a felony charge of Armed Criminal Action, and a felony charge of 1st Degree Domestic Assault.
Hicks is being held without bond at the Douglas County Jail.
