Ava, MO. – A Douglas County man turned himself into authorities on May 10, 2023, after threatening family and damaging property days earlier.
On May 6th, 2023; deputies responded to a family dispute in the U highway area of Douglas County. Gregory Kinkade, age 60 of Ava, had threatened his family with a pistol. Deputies noticed a vehicle at the residence with numerous bullet holes in it.
The suspect had left the residence and was seen going north towards Mansfield and the appropriate agencies were notified to stop and hold Kinkade if contact was made. Deputies patrolled the area throughout the next few days.
On May 10th, Kinkade turned himself in at the Mansfield Police Department, telling officers he had shot up his brother’s car. Corporal Nelson met Police Chief Tim Stuart at the county line and Corporal Nelson took custody of the suspect.
Kinkade was transported to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold. The suspect admitted to a deputy that he had shot at the vehicle, possibly up to 15 times in rage.
The Douglas County Circuit Court issued a warrant for Gregory Kinkade. The charges include:
-Unlawful Use of Weapon-Shoot At/From Motor Vehicle, At Person, Motor Vehicle, Building (Class B Felony)
-Domestic Assault 1st Degree (Class B Felony)
-Property Damage 1st Degree (Class E Felony)
The bond is set at $5000-00 cash; with the following bond conditions: No alcohol, CPS supervision with twice-a-week alcohol testing. No Firearms. No contact with the victims or the residence where the incident occurred.
On May 10th, 2023; a Municipal Warrant (Ava PD case) was also issued for Kinkade. Charges are:
-Failure to Appear-Urinate/Defecate in Public
That bond is set at $100 cash. Kinkade remains in custody at the Douglas County Jail.
Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase said in a statement online that he “would like to thank Chief Stuart for his assistance on this case.”
