Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigate Weekend Home Explosion; 4 Casualties Reported

Goodhope, MO. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies investigated the site of a home explosion over the weekend which appears to have left 4 people deceased.

This happened on Saturday, May 18th, with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, Ava PD, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Goodhope Fire Department responding to a call of an explosion.

Upon arrival, the bodies of four deceased individuals were found. Sheriff Chris Degase had stated that this explosion was unlike anything he had ever seen, and contacted other local sheriff’s offices to assist. A bomb squad was deployed to collect evidence, and both the State Fire Marshal and the ATF assisted in investigating the scene.

The conclusion of the investigation determines that the homeowners were making renovations to the residence, which resulted in a propane leak inside the home.
