Douglas County Traffic Stop Leads to Drug-Trafficking Charges

Ava, MO. – A Tuesday, September 26th traffic stop has led to the arrest of one woman from Mansfield after a large amount of drugs were found.

According to a release of information from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Aaron Box and Lieutenant Taylor Wallace located and stopped an erratically driven vehicle on Highway 5.

The female driver gave a false identity at first. During the course of a search and investigation, drugs and drug paraphernalia were located. The female eventually gave her real identity, Jessica January, 31 of Mansfield.

The volume of drugs found, including meth and fentanyl, constituted January’s arrest with a 1st and 2nd Degree Felony Charge of Drug Trafficking, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department, the amount of fentanyl found was roughly 60 times the amount required to be applicable for drug trafficking charges.

January’s bond was set at $50,000.
