The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO), the organization which supplies a majority of the blood for the area, is currently in a state of emergency need when it comes to their blood supply.
This state of emergency need applies to all blood types, even the more commonly found types. Officials with CBCO are stating that this is the lowest their supply has been in more than two years.
Several reasons have been cited for this current shortage, including that blood drives that take place in the area may not actually be routed to nearby hospitals.
It has also been said that in May, blood usage amounts were the highest they’ve been in 10 years.
