Eminence Fire Department Firehouse Burns Down

Eminence, MO. – The Eminence Area Volunteer Fire Department’s firehouse has been completely destroyed in a fire.

The fire started early this morning. Flames from the fire could be seen from a large distance away as workers fought the blaze. Officials are stating that the building was a complete loss, as was everything inside. Numbered in the lost equipment were a total of seven Fire Department vehicles. Included was even one fire truck that was used during the 9/11 attacks in New York City.

In addition, assistance in this event was provided by multiple other agencies, including Fire Departments from Ellington, Summersville, Thayer, Timber, and Winona.

Bill O’Donnel from the Shannon County First Responders wished to assure the public that despite this loss, they are in no danger, as many other agencies have opted in to cover fire calls in the area while recovery from this loss is underway, with some offers of help coming from as far as Wisconsin.
