Eminence, MO. – A small town in Shannon County, Missouri, had been devastated early this year in March after a fire destroyed their firehouse. The Eminence Fire Department had received a lot of damage to their equipment, losing 7 trucks and several crucial pieces of equipment.
After the fire, a local business gave the fire department crew permission to use one of its buildings as a base until they were able to build a new one. During the wait for a new building, the department added new members to their fire fighting team and some new trucks to their fleet. Last week, they learned that they would be receiving $1 million from a state allocation to build a new firehouse. All the money will be going to construction.
Chief Bay, the head of the department, announced that they hope to build more than one structure using the insurance money and the state allocation. These structures would include an ambulance shed, an outlying station somewhere, and the main building.
The money was made possible with the help of multiple state senators and representatives.
