Houston, MO. – Emmett Kelly, known more famously as the quintessential sad clown, “Weary Willie” was a Houston, Missouri native and is the subject of the upcoming 2022 Emmett Kelly Clown Festival on April 30th.
This will be a three-day event in Houston, starting Thursday the 28th, with dinner and a presentation about Emmett Kelley and Circus history, a showing of “The Greatest Show on Earth” at the Melba Theater on Friday, and finally with the major day of play happening on Saturday.
Saturdays events include Dutch Oven Cooking, live music from 9 AM to 4 PM, food trucks, vendors, a clown parade, a car show, a window decorating contest for local businesses, and The Stars Foundation doing a showing of “The Greatest Showman at 3pm and 7pm. They will also provide entertainment at 12:30 and 5:30 at the grandstand.
