WEST PLAINS, Mo. — Rep. David Evans, R-West Plains, says he has been working on several bills that he will be filing this upcoming session.
Evans says one of the most important bills, in his opinion, deals with criminal charges and the bond process. Evans says he’s heard from several law enforcement officials that are worried about criminals getting out early for violent crimes or things like theft or property damage:
Evans says he will also be filing legislation dealing with a state prescription drug database. Currently, the state of Missouri is the only state that doesn’t have legislation in place for a database, the legislation of which has failed in the Missouri Senate over the past several years due to privacy concerns. Evans says he hopes his legislation address several of those privacy issues:
He added that he will also be filing bills to tighten up several laws and updating the state sexual offender registry and banning texting while driving for all motorists. Currently, state law only bans those under the age of 21 from texting while driving.
Prefiling begins December 1.
