Explore West Plains 2024 “Year of the Eclipse” Edition Guidebooks Now Available

The 2024 Explore West Plains guidebook, “Year of the Eclipse” edition, is now available. At 112 pages, the new book is expanded from last year’s edition and is filled with things to do in and around West Plains, including a self-guided history, art and attractions and tour, event calendar and points of interest, along with information about the community, famous West Plains residents, and more.

For those wanting to experience the outdoors around West Plains, there are day trips featured for exploring the area. Other day trips can be put together by choosing locations featured in the book including mills, springs, lakes and ponds, conservation areas, state parks, and points of interest. A map is included along with turn-by-turn directions and mileage to different locations.

There is an outdoor adventures section featuring locations for hiking, river access, swimming holes, and information about the Ozark Trail for those wishing to mountain bike, horseback ride, or hike through the Mark Twain National Forest. Also included is the West Plains Bike Route, suggested roads for motorcycle riding, and information for off-road ATV adventures.

Information on lodging includes West Plains hotels and area resorts, campgrounds, and outfitters. There is a West Plains dining and shopping directory along with information about moving to and living in West Plains.

The guidebooks are available free of charge and can be picked up at the Ozark Heritage Welcome Center, 2999 Porter Wagoner Blvd., or at any West Plains hotel.
